INTRODUCTION

Thai Herbal Stem massage, aka Thai herbal compress massage or Thai herbal ball massage, is a type of massage that imported from Thailand. Once it hits North America, it quickly developes lots of fans due to its unique massage type and benefits. It allows you to provide aromatherapy, thermal therapy and herbal therapy all at once in a modality.

 

 

 

 

HISTORY

In Thailand, the herbal compress is called luk pra kob, translated as “herbal pressing sphere.” The healing practice of this therapy dates back nearly 5,000 years, to an era when the knowledge of plants, including their effects through ingestion or application on the body, were painstakingly researched and then passed down from one generation to the next. In ancient times it was used by Thai royalty in elaborate treatments and by soldiers for aches and pains after returning from battle.

 

 

 


 

HOW IT MADE

To make the compress, a selection of therapeutic herbs formulated in Southeast Asian countries, including prai, ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, shikakai,  cassia siamea, mangosteen, basil leaves, sweet sage, myrtle grass, orange peel, camphor, menthol, fragrant herbs and himalayan salt are wrapped in a muslin compress in accordance with ancient recipes, steamed and then applied to the body in gentle pressing, circular and rolling movements after a full-body, pressure point Thai massage.

Features of a heated Thai herbal compress massage includes soothing muscular aches and swelling, restoring and redirecting energy, repairing the body by balancing the senses, calming the nerves, revitalizing the skin and tissues, and stimulating the sen lines (meridians in Chinese medicine).
