Looking for registered massage therapy, a relaxing spa treatment, or a couples massage? Tsingtao Wellness Spa welcomes you at our Markham–Unionville and Vaughan–Thornhill locations.
Find answers below about our Registered Massage Therapists, insurance receipts, treatments, and how to prepare for your visit.
Registered Massage Therapy & Insurance
Are your massage therapists registered?
Yes. Massage treatments at Tsingtao Wellness Spa are performed by Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
Our RMTs review your health history, discuss your goals, and tailor your massage to your needs and comfort.
Is RMT massage covered by insurance?
Many extended health benefits plans cover massage therapy provided by a Registered Massage Therapist. Your coverage depends on your individual plan, including reimbursement limits and any referral requirements.
Before booking, check with your insurance provider to confirm your massage therapy benefits. We provide official receipts for RMT treatments, but reimbursement is determined by your insurer.
Do you do direct billing?
Unfortunatley we do not do direct billing. Instead we will provide official RMT receipts for all RMT treatments that you can submit to your extended health benefits plan.
Your receipt identifies the treatment provided and your treating RMT, including their registration number. Let us know at checkout if you need help with your receipt.
Does every spa treatment/packages qualify for massage insurance coverage?
Please confirm eligibility for your chosen treatment before booking. Coverage depends on the service provided and your insurance policy; a spa booking or package is not automatically eligible in full.
Our team can explain how your treatment will be receipted, and your insurer can confirm what your plan reimburses.
Appointments & Your First Visit
Do I need to book in advance?
We recommend booking ahead to secure your preferred time and therapist, especially for evenings, weekends, and couples appointments.
Walk-ins are welcome whenever space allows. Call ahead and we’ll let you know what’s available.
What should I expect on my first visit?
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete a health history form and settle in.
Your RMT will review your concerns, injuries, and treatment goals before your massage. They will explain the proposed treatment, discuss your comfort and preferences, and answer your questions before beginning.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing, avoid alcohol and a heavy meal beforehand, and arrive with time to settle in.
Tell your therapist about medical conditions, injuries, recent surgeries, pregnancy, allergies, or any areas you would like them to avoid. Mention any changes in your health since your last appointment.
What do I wear during the massage?
For oil-based massage, undress to your comfort level. You may keep your undergarments on if you prefer. Your therapist will give you privacy to change, and you will be professionally draped with sheets, with only the area being treated exposed.
For Thai Massage or a clothed Shiatsu treatment, wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. Your therapist will explain how to prepare for your chosen service.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a fee of 50% of the booked service price. Contact your location as soon as possible if your plans change.
Massage Treatments & Your Comfort
Which massage should I choose?
Choose based on what you would like from your visit.
The two most basic and popular choices are Swedish Massage and Therapeutic Massage. Swedish Massage is a light pressure relaxing experience. RMT Signature Therapeutic Massage offers more focused attention to specific areas and concerns.
If you’re unsure, contact us. We can help you explore the options before you book.
Can I choose the pressure and focus areas?
Yes all of our treatments are personalized. Tell your RMT whether you prefer lighter, moderate, or firmer pressure and which areas you would like them to focus on.
Your therapist will discuss an appropriate treatment plan with you. You can request an adjustment, ask to avoid an area, or pause or stop the treatment at any time.
Do I have to talk or kee awake during my massage?
No—you’re welcome to relax quietly. Your therapist may check in about pressure and comfort, but you do not need to make conversation.
Let us know if you prefer a quiet appointment.
What if I have allergies or sensitivity to scents?
Please tell us when booking and remind your therapist before treatment.
Some services involve oils, herbal compresses, or other products. Contact us in advance so we can discuss the ingredients used and suitable treatment options.
What should I do after my massage?
Give yourself a moment to get up slowly, drink water as you normally would, and follow any personalized aftercare guidance from your RMT.
Ask your therapist about exercise or other activities if you’re unsure what is appropriate after your session. Notice how your body feels and share that feedback at your next visit—it can help your RMT adjust future treatments. Some treatment may cause light soreness after treatment, so we recommend hot shower and hot bath which will help to increase blood circulation and reduce the discomfort.
Couples Massage & Shared Visits
Do you offer couples massage in Markham and Vaughan?
Yes. Side-by-side couples massage is available in a private room at both locations.
Visit with your partner, a friend, or a family member for an anniversary, birthday, or time together. Couples rooms are limited, so please book in advance.
Do both guests need to have the same treatment?
Contact your preferred location to discuss the treatments and appointment lengths you would each like. We’ll confirm which combinations can be arranged together.
Each guest can choose their own pressure preferences and discuss their goals with their RMT.
Can I book for a group of friends or family members?
Yes. Contact us with your preferred date, number of guests, and treatments. We’ll help you explore arrangements based on room and therapist availability.
